November Bracelet

Just a few weeks ago I had some foggy, misty thoughts of what to do with this little leaf pendant.
I also had daydreams of a fall broken china bracelet.

So I started out with my breaking and soldering.
A dark patina came next.

Then my little broken china pieces met this stunning cameo..and said "Your are the one my dear!"...and so they were married together.
Snow white swarovski pearls and freshwater pearl pumpkin beads flanked their side.

I then invited a few coppery leaves and sweet little ol birds to the mix.

Swarovski crystals from Artbeads.com brought the perfect shine.

Trailing the end of is this sweet, fall colored leaf pendant. (which can be found, along with other sizes and styles, at Artbeads.com!)

I was so excited to finish this bracelet! The colors reminded me of November..when the first snow starts to come...and all we see is rust, black and white.
While the leaf pendant came from Artbeads.com, the shiny copper leaves, the birds and pumpkin pearls can be found, for some readers, locally..at the Black Bear Bead shop.

Pine Lake and the Haunting

Once upon a time, my family used to spend quite a bit of time at this lake. It
it called Pine Lake and is located in upstate New York. It had the softest sand I ever felt.
My stepdad used to own it, way back when..
It once was also an amusement part, and also had
a very scary, tall and dangerous metal slide that stood off from the beach and ended in the water.
I never went down it. Am not sure, but I think it was closed up when we spending there.
The slide was next to a building called the Timberline. There had been a bar on the first floor, and a camp/apartment on the second floor.
Every now and then we would spend the night there, not often though...for which I am thankful.

My stepdad always seemed to have a good story
to tell. He used to host youth Halloween parties up at the camp, and scared us all silly!
Often they included a seance, and let me tell you they were very, very freaky, at least in my twelve year old mind.
Back to my point about being thankful we did not spend too many nights there.
Well, I was in my early teen years...and very easily spooked.
Who do you think got to sleep in the "haunted" room?
You got it! Me!
According to "legend" hunters used to spend time in the camp.
For some reason the light in this room would not stay off.
It would be turned off, only to later appear back on.
After so many times of doing this, my stepdad said he unscrewed the lightbulb..
to no avail...Apparently the ghost did not want to be in the dark.
Now, I don't know if he was just pulling me leg, or telling the truth, because this man can spin
quite the ghost tell, but I often slept with one eye open..
well the covers were over my head, so I didn't really see much.

Autumn Falls

I was thrilled when I saw Artbead's fall lineup!
And even more thrilled when I received a recent package all wrapped up in Artbead's signature purple tissue paper!
So yesterday...I got busy!
Starting off with this sweet leaf pendant.

I kept my first design pretty simple as I felt the copper maple leaf pendant spoke for itself.
The coppery orange and red tones are so beautiful in this.
I did add a few Mocca colored, faceted swarovski roundelles.

(THIS is a post note!!! I am back days later..and decided to change up the original design!! I added a piece of brass that has blue patina on it, a few more crystals, and created what I call my Autumn Falls necklace! Sometimes you just have to change things up till you are happy, I am NOW very happy!)

The chain I used was a bright shiny copper plated 3 strand/3 link chain.
I have never seen a chain quite like this..and will be ordering more! It is really unique and beautiful. I am thinking of using it for a few broken china pieces that are in the making.

More to come with artbead's beads! As I still have a small copper maple leaf pendant to create with. Planning to go a little wild with that one!!

Where it's at!

This Saturday I took a little trip downtown
to a little shop called Mohawk Harvest, a cooperative market.

I was greeted by these huge pots of colorful mums...
a true treat for the eyes!

once inside I was more in a hurry to shop, than to do what
I really was there for...

which was to hang my prints in the storefront window.

but, I remained calm..and carried on with my task at hand.

Once finished the fun began!
Mohawk Harvest has the biggest apples I have ever seen! And they taste great..especially in the pie I made last night! My new fave is the Autumn Crisp apple.
What else went home with me?
A loaf of cinnamon bread..which apparently is talked about near and far. (I now know why, it is hard to stop eating once you have started!) Also making the return trip to my lil dome home was lovely spaghetti squash, butternut squash, and Stash pumpkin spice tea. I have never seen this flavor of Stash tea before, being a tea horder I grabbed it up quick.
Already, three of the tea bags have been used..yumm!
I just adore this little shop!

sidenote: The prints in their storefront are all available for purchase!
