They took my breathe away!

Yup, they did...as I pulled these stunningly gorgeous pillows out of a huge gift bag set in front of my on my birthay. They are just beautiful! Maybe not to everyone, but to me they are. More so due to the fact that the creator of these is my mom. The detal and stitching on them are perfect. The print is sensational! On the back of each is a different smaller repeating pattern related to the Wizard of Oz. I was always a fan of this movie..and also of Judy Garland. I loved watching her old movies..though there were not a lot of them..The Wizard of Oz will always be my favorite though! Thus my early fear and fascination with tornados! Go figure, we actually moved to tornado alley in Arkansas 5 years ago...with no frady hole to run to in our brand new house! The countryside still had a visible path that showed where the last tornados had been..and the school was absolutely mowed down to a pile of rubble by it......The new school was actually built to be a disaster shelter, just in case....
I like Shirley Temple movies, but had she actually played the part of Dorothy, as was an original plan...I don't think the movie would have turned out to have such a following...again..my opinion. So luckily, I have this wonderfully talented mother who gave me one of my favorite birthday presents ever. Hop on over and say hi to her at

Trapped!

This poor, poor little mouse! He is trapped by three little kittens! Argghh...he is thinking. Little does he know he has nothing to worry about. These are the friendliest little kittens around..and they just want another companion. Believe me, I know..I do have an IN with these sweet black cats. They have no intention of causing mousie any harm. This is my newest print..avaliable..yes, as you know..in Distressing Delilahs etsy shop.

Beauty in the Making

I am so fortunate that my mom came home for a visit! Also fortunate that she brought gads ad gads of old photos of out family! This morning was spent scanning a lot of them. This collage is one of my mom. She really does have gorgeous blue eyes..I don't think I captured the exact shade though!

The Best Birthday Present

So here it is again...my birthday..but not just my birthday, but my sons, Caseys'!!! The first thing I woke up to on this glorious day, was the sun shining thru my window..birds chirping. Then I went downstairs to my next treat..streaks of grassy dog puke strewn across my rug..yum. So I picked up what I could before I realized I would puke if I continued. ....its' my birthday and I'll puke if I want to...was running thru my head..as I gagged! One of my poor poochies obviously was not feeling up to par. So went the start of my day! It is not yet 7 a.m. here and everyone is still sleeping. I so love this time of the morning! Anyhow..back to the birthday king..Casey. Casey is my "baby". My baby is 18 today! His brother turns 20 in about a month. Casey was my little 21st birthday present! Well, not too little, as he was six weeks early, but still weighed over 6lbs...he was flown to Albany Medical Center after he was born, due to his premature lungs. My mom, and ob nurse, had to show the docs that he actually was a preemie..they thought he was too big to be one. She held up his feet and hands and showed them that the lines had not yet developed on them..one of the last things to happen I guess, they then believed it. They had just thought he was a really sick full-term baby. Casey is now over 6ft. tall and towers over his older brother, has six pack abs and the most beautiful eyes a boy could have. He has been on the honor roll and principals list all year...despite being tutored...due to an anxiety problems. He also is a member to the National Honor Society. I am so proud of him! He is the best birthday present I have ever gotten! Love ya Case!

Happy Mothers Day!

Happy Mothers Day to all my readers and mostly to my very beautiful and wonderful Mom! My Mom came in from Florida last week to spend Mothers Day and my birthday, and my sons birthday (My youngest was born on my 21st birthday!) ...May 14th, with us and the rest of her family. Mays' Distressing Give Away Contest!

Finally, just as I promised, Shabbys' Distressing May blog give away! For this months contest all you need to do is check out my shop...
and come back here and leave a comment on anything that catches your eye! I am contemplating a few changes in regards to my Etsy "career". Since my first listing there in December, I have found a few new loves....or new old loves have been renewed...or reinspired. As you can see, if you have visited my shop, it is a little "scattered". Having really enjoyed playing around with photography and art, that has been added to my shop. I myself, feel the shop is in need of an overhaul...or perhaps a separation.
This Friday is going to be my first home jewelry party...I have quite a few pieces I plan on showing at it. Depending on how my stock is afterwards..I may create a separate shop for jewelry...or maybe not. Actually both jewelry and art, I have found, are difficult to sell on Etsy...and my mind is up in the air regarding which way Distressing Delilahs will turn. So, to my point regarding this post..and contest..I will take into consideration your comments, to partially help me in my decisions. Mays' contest will run the whole month of May, the winner to be posted on June 1st! A random name will be drawn for the prize...being the sweet star and moon earrings shown above!

My Sunday Collage

Just posting something I did today...think she is sort of sweet!
I hope everyone had a great weekend! The sun is finally out here..and I am being coerced by my lovely canine friends, to go frolick in it with them. Actually their coercing at the moment is...one of them lying flat out like a rug, at the front door..and the other all curled up, with her head resting between her paws. They make sure to gaze up sadly at me, though hopefully, at the same time. A few bored sighs from each now at then..and yes, they have got me..oh the guilt. Do you have problems giving in to your poochie? I am a just a big, fat pushover. So adeau until tomorrow...or possibly Tuesday. I will be posting...I so promise..my May giveaway..at the latest, by Tuesday night...I think it will be a pair of earrings this time.

Prayer to the Bootie God

As you may have guessed, or noticed, my blog is still changing! Please be patient with me! Yes there is a new header, yes there is a new background...and it may change tomorrow..not sure yet. I will know when I am content with it though. This one is getting close to that.
Well, I have had something funny I have wanted to chat about. Up north here, the weather is getting warmer. We have had a few hot days. On those days..I go to my bottom, right hand side dresser drawer, and gingerly pull it open..to reveal shorts that have been hibernating for the winter. I pull a pair out and silently say a prayer to the Bootie God. Please, oh, please don't let these shorts have silently shrunk during their hibernation. I have had to say this prayer two or three time now. So I slowly, nonchalantly, pull a pair of last years shorts on..acting like have been doing this every day..no big deal. As luck, or faith, would have it, the Bootie God has answered my prayers so far..each pair has not had the OMG, I shrunk them in the wash feeling. I know, very vain of me to even speak of this...but really that is how it has gone!
